Promo for Bruce's gig at Bobby McGee's on 5th May 2009

May is saxophone month at Bobby McGee's - not by intention, but by the way the scheduling evolved.  So we open the series with one of the premier bari players on the planet...

Tuesday, 5/5 at Bobby McGee's 8:00 - 11:00 Bruce Johnstone, saxophone Pat Georger, piano Wayne Moose, bass your host, drum set

And we've discussed it before... How did we get so lucky?  Bruce is from New Zealand!  How does he wind up within driving distance from Buffalo?  He could still be in New York.  Or Europe.  LA.  Anywhere!  And yet he's among us, richly adding to our musical wealth and prosperity.  At this point I can indulge my laziness, because there's no point repeating his artistic curriculum vitae.  Everybody knows who Bruce is, who he's played with, and what he's done, all the way back to Maynard and Stay Loose with Bruce.  So take advantage of the opportunity to hear one of the leading baritone saxophonists the world over, at our humble venue, in the company of his chosen sidemen for this one evening - Pat Georger and Wayne Moose.  We look forward to seeing you.

Next Tuesday, 5/12 at Bobby McGee's 8:00 - 11:00 Jeff Hackworth, saxophone George Caldwell, piano Sabu Adeyola, bass your host, drum set

Upcoming at Bobby McGee's... 5/19 Dave Schiavone, 5/26 The Kipler Brothers, 6/9 Vince Ercolomento, 6/16 3 Brothers and a Distant Cousin, 6/23 Mark Wolfram, 6/30 Dave & Cameron Kayne, Tony Scozzaro, Andy Weinzler, 7/7 The Upstate Express, 7/28 Paul Tynan, 8/4 Dave Scott, 8/11 It's Kenny's Fault, 8/25 Pete Malinverni & Jody Sandhaus, 9/1 John Sandfort, 9/8 Don Menza

I found religion!

God bless! And please congregate with us!

Dan
