Tim was born in Birmingham, England and emigrated to NZ at a young age.  His first professional gig was at the age of 13 in Tokoroa were he spent his early years.  In the 1980's Tim played in top Waikato band, The Politician's.  They recorded 2 singles and made numerous Television appearances, performing on Shazam and Radio with Pictures.

In 1987 Tim went solo and a band was put together to back him called The Kiwi Bandits.  In 1989 the band went to the USA and Europe to perform.  On returning they played night club gigs in the Auckland region.  1991 saw the band playing on the cruise ship The Fairstar for six months.

During the years Tim has performed alongside numerous talented Singers, Frankie Stevens, Tom Sharplin, Shane, Marc Hunter, Graham Brazier, Alastair Riddell, Celine Toner, to mention but a few.  And also supported such acts as Hello Sailor, DD Smash, Pseudo Echo, The Narcs, Sharon O'Neil ,Dr Feelgood, The Dropbears, Coconut Rough, The Mockers.

The 1990s were good years for Tim he recorded three albums and appeared frequently on television.  He also won Best Male vocalist and recorded work in the Waikato Rock awards promoted by rock 93FM.  1992 he released his first solo album (Relationships), 1993 (Breaking Hearts).  1995 saw the release of his album "Wondering Why" and a substantial amount of radio airplay with the songs "Grantham Street" and "Separate Lives" which were both used on Shortland Street.

In 1997 Tim went back to England to perform solo gigs in London and appear on Thames TV and on his return he featured on the Good Morning show several times.  He also won best Blues guitarist in the Waikato finals.

While still continuing to play as a solo artist, Tim is also enjoying having a stable line up for his band (The Tim Armstrong band) which features ex Knightshade musicians Alan Grady and Don McClumpha, and he has established himself as one of the most versatile and hardest working musicians around.

As well as performing solo and with his band which caters for all types of audiences, he plays the part of John in the NZ Abbey Road Beatles tribute band.

Christmas time always sees Tim and his band play resident at Vilagrad Wines which is a large vineyard venue just 8 kms outside Hamilton, Waikato.  And his voice/guitar playing features on numerous TV and radio commercials.

Tim has just released a further 3 CDs which feature classic hit songs of yesteryear, and another two original albums entitled (Through the Ages) and (Days in Black Leather) in the past few years.  As well as working on Alastair Riddell's latest recording project.
